Moving USDC between Stellar and eight networks over Circle’s CCTP.
Cross-chain transfers move USDC between Stellar and eight other networks. LumosCore does not run a bridge and never holds your funds in transit — the transfer is carried by Circle's Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP), which burns USDC on the source chain and mints native USDC on the destination.

USDC is the only asset CCTP carries. That is a real limit and we would rather state it than work around it: moving one asset in a way that cannot be drained is worth more than moving every asset through something that repeatedly has been.
#Making a transfer
- Open Cross-chain, choose the source and destination networks, and enter an amount of USDC.
- Approve the burn on the source chain. Your USDC is destroyed there — this is the step that commits the transfer.
- Wait for attestation. Circle observes the burn and issues a signed attestation. This normally takes a few minutes and is not something either of us can speed up.
- Claim on the destination. Submit the attestation to mint native USDC into your address on the destination chain, paying that chain's gas.
You claim it yourself
The final mint is a transaction on the destination chain and you pay its gas. On Ethereum mainnet at a busy moment that can cost more than the transfer fee — check gas before you start, and consider a cheaper destination such as Base or Arbitrum if you have the choice.
#If you close the tab before claiming
The burn is on-chain and permanent; the funds are not lost. Reopen Cross-chain with the same wallet connected and the pending transfer is listed so you can complete the claim. A burned but unclaimed transfer stays claimable — it does not expire.
Keep the burn transaction hash. There is a copy button on the transfer screen for exactly this reason, and with it we can trace any transfer that appears stuck.
#What it costs
- LumosCore: 0.2% of the amount transferred, or 0.1% on the LUMOS tier.
- Circle: nothing. CCTP itself charges no fee for the transfer.
- The networks: the source chain's fee to burn, and the destination chain's gas to claim. Both paid to those networks in their own gas token.
#What can still go wrong
Delegating the transport does not remove transport risk. Between the burn and the claim, the transfer depends on CCTP's own security and operation. LumosCore's design bounds the exposure — we hold no pooled balance, so a failure is limited to transfers actually in flight — but it does not eliminate it. See Security.
Check the destination address
Sending to an address you do not control, or to a contract that cannot receive USDC, is not reversible by anyone. Confirm the destination before approving the burn.
